Flashes of the Real Lewis
When Lewis Hamilton accepted the challenge of Ferrari, he had just come off two not-so-optimal seasons at Mercedes – despite the two wins in 2024 – with the British champion often appearing quite gloomy, even questioning his own speed. However, what was seen during the Sprint Qualifying and the Saturday race in Shanghai reassured Ferrari fans: when Lewis has the right car in his hands, he is still more than capable of pushing it to the limit and winning.
Ferrari: What to Do?
In an interview with Vision4Sport, former Formula 1 driver Juan Pablo Montoya urged Ferrari to focus the development of the SF-25 around the needs of the seven-time Formula 1 world champion: “Lewis Hamilton doesn’t feel at all comfortable with that car. The first time we saw him comfortable in the car was in China, on Friday and Saturday. But then they made some changes trying to improve it.” – the former Williams driver pointed out.
The Colombian continued: “Watching from TV, it seemed like it had too much understeer, and he wanted a car that would turn a bit more. In Australia, it seemed like he didn’t trust the car. All Ferrari needs to do is improve the SF-25 for Lewis, a bit like what happens at Red Bull with Max.” Juan Pablo Montoya concluded with a question: “But if they improve the car for Lewis, what will happen to Charles? He’ll be unhappy…”
