During Free Practice 2 of the Austrian Grand Prix, Lewis Hamilton was involved in an incident that caught the attention of the FIA.
The reason for the investigation
While attempting a fast lap, Andrea Kimi Antonelli was impeded by the seven-time world champion from Ferrari at Turn 4.
The Mercedes driver voiced his frustration over the team radio, saying: “What is going on with these people? Come on.”
A message that suggests there may have been several tense moments like this, particularly involving different rivals.
Given the nature of the session — a “simple” free practice — impeding is usually punished with a financial penalty for the team, at least in most cases.
We now await the FIA’s official decision on the matter. More updates to follow.
