Oliver Bearman, the HAAS driver, appeared particularly furious with Yuki Tsunoda and didn’t hold back sharp comments about him. Bearman finished the nineteenth round of the F1 World Championship in ninth place, just missing out on seventh.
During lap 35 of the Austin Grand Prix, Ollie Bearman and Yuki Tsunoda, engaged in a tight battle for seventh place, almost forced each other into an early retirement. This behavior did not sit well with the rookie Oliver Bearman, who openly criticized the Red Bull driver during the media session. According to Ollie Bearman, Yuki Tsunoda’s approach on track is not an isolated case.
Half-satisfied with the result
Excluding the incident with Tsunoda, Oliver Bearman expressed some disappointment with his own race: “Yes, yes, from a certain point of view I’m happy to be disappointed. It’s a bit of a cliché, but finishing ninth (P9) and scoring two points for the second weekend in a row, and still feeling disappointed about it, is actually positive because it shows we have more potential. Today, I think seventh place wasn’t realistic. I had a slightly complicated first stint, but in the second I really started to find some rhythm.”
Tsunoda’s risky behavior under scrutiny
According to the British HAAS driver, Yuki Tsunoda’s behavior is not an isolated issue, but rather a consistent driving style that can be dangerous for other drivers on track. Ollie Bearman, besides the incident involving himself, also mentioned what happened during the Sprint race with VCARB and the situation with Charles Leclerc at the Austin GP: “No, but I have the feeling he has this problem with other drivers too. He was fighting with Charles [Leclerc], who wasn’t even racing against him. Why defend against him? What he’s doing seems simply absurd. It’s a behavior without vision. A foolish way to drive.” – the Ferrari junior pointed out.
No plans for a direct conversation
When asked if he would like to speak directly to Yuki Tsunoda about the issue, Ollie Bearman replied firmly: “NO, because I don’t think it will change.”
