A little over a week after the end of the 2024 motorsport season, Ferrari President John Elkann summed up the past 12 months that are nearing their conclusion, but not only that.
If 2024 was significant for confirming competitiveness in the World Endurance Championship with a second consecutive victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and for seeing Ferrari contend for a Formula 1 title until the last race, 2025 will bring equally high expectations, thanks in part to the arrival of Lewis Hamilton.
“The season has been positive, thanks to our teams who worked tirelessly to honor Ferrari’s racing spirit,” John Elkann began. “The victories in iconic races, both in the FIA WEC and Formula 1, will remain unforgettable. I will never forget Sunday, September 1st, a special day when we won both in Austin and Monza.”
The 24 Hours of Le Mans was a highlight, along with the satisfaction of seeing the 296 GT3 achieve prestigious victories worldwide, not to mention the highly positive debut of the Challenge version, which fuels Ferrari’s single-make GT series.
“We confirmed ourselves as winners at the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second consecutive year. It was an incredibly joyful moment. The 296 GT3 also brought us many satisfactions, starting with the 24 Hours of Daytona, while the 296 Challenge garnered widespread acclaim among our sport-focused clients in its debut year.”
John Elkann also extended his gratitude to Carlos Sainz. The Spaniard will leave Ferrari at the end of the year to join Williams, having been replaced by Lewis Hamilton. Despite knowing from the beginning of the year that he would leave Maranello, Carlos remained an exemplary professional and delivered a high-level season, just like his previous ones with Ferrari.
“In Formula 1, we were contenders for the Constructors’ title until the very end. In the year of Scuderia Ferrari’s 95th anniversary, we won the Monaco GP, with Charles Leclerc later giving us victories in Monza, in front of a crowd of enthusiastic fans, and Austin. Carlos triumphed in Australia and Mexico, thus crowning his journey with Scuderia Ferrari. I wish to thank him for the passion and talent he has demonstrated over these four years with us.” – he added.

After reflecting on the past, Ferrari must now look to the future. John Elkann outlined the projects for the next season, emphasizing the presence of Lewis Hamilton and the objectives the company must achieve, even in the automotive sector.
“At Ferrari, we are constantly oriented toward the future. That is why I look with enthusiasm at the many projects for next year: the first electric Ferrari, a Formula 1 team welcoming new talents, and the new driver pairing of Charles and Lewis. All while awaiting the new challenge in the world of sailing.”
“In the second half of 2025, we will share a new strategic plan during the Capital Markets Day. It will be an opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitment to innovation, exclusivity, and excellence, which go hand in hand with our journey toward carbon neutrality by 2030,” Ferrari’s president concluded.
