Was there a tense atmosphere among the team leaders at Maranello? This is what emerges from the recent comments of Italian journalist and Ferrari insider Leo Turrini, according to whom Enrico Cardile did not appreciate some of Frederic Vasseur’s behavior at Ferrari.
On Monday, the Scuderia officially announced the resignation of the now-former technical director, who chose to move to Aston Martin. However, the news did not come “out of nowhere.” For a few weeks, various rumors about this possibility had already been circulating.
For the time being, Enrico Cardile’s role will be temporarily filled by Fred Vasseur himself. Starting in October, Loic Serra will be operational at Ferrari, but another figure is still expected to arrive in the role of technical director.
The name that excites fans is always Adrian Newey. However, the English engineer seems to be getting closer to Aston Martin. This is why the names of Dan Fallows and Mike Elliot have also been mentioned. Although it was no longer a surprise, Enrico Cardile’s departure has nonetheless sparked some doubts about the current management of the team.
Unsettled Atmosphere at Ferrari?
In the pages of the Italian news website Quotidiano Nazionale, Leo Turrini revealed that Frederic Vasseur’s ways may have played a key role in Enrico Cardile’s decision to leave Ferrari.
“The forty-nine-year-old Italian engineer did not agree with Frederic Vasseur’s ways and methods,” explained Leo Turrini. “The hiring of Serra had been communicated to him without prior consultation. Not ideal for someone whose job is technical director.”
The relationship between the two, therefore, seemed to be very complicated. According to emerging rumors, it does not seem that the Ferrari team principal was upset by Enrico Cardile’s departure. It is certain that, at the moment, Ferrari is facing a very turbulent period. On the track, it is struggling to understand the latest update package, and the results are not coming. Off the track, as explained by Leo Turrini, the Enrico Cardile operation could cast some shadows on the atmosphere within Ferrari and on Fred Vasseur’s management.

What is certain is that now, all the top men from the Mattia Binotto era are no longer in Maranello. The current team principal is trying to involve more and more people from other teams. We will see if this will be the winning strategy to bring Ferrari back to the top.
