Italian blogger Leo Turrini, who is famously very close to proceedings at Scuderia Ferrari, reflects the first race of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix, in a recent post published on his quotidiano.net blog:
“In the ancient days of my law degree I took an exman on the form and substance of the law.
Form is substance, in law.
But in Formula One?
Strictly speaking, Hamilton won at Sakhir.
Strictly speaking, Verstappen won for me.
It wasn’t a replay of Canada 2019 with Vettel, but the substance is the same.
I remain of the opinion that Formula 1 is bold. Punish the driver if he creates danger for the opponent.
It wasn’t like that in Montreal. Not even in Sakhir.
After that, okay. Dura lex sed lex (in fact I took 30 cum laude on the exam).
The rest.
The glass is half empty for Ferrari glass. Better than three months ago, but I refuse to be excited for a sixth and an eighth place.
Cycling gap for Charles Leclerc.
Over a minute.
The outcome was far inferior to the expectations.
Then, of course, we knew it. But it is not that early diagnosis makes the prognosis less crude.
Now I hope we can keep up with McLaren.
Good performance for KR7 overtaking Alonso and finishing ahead of poor Vettel.
Great Perez comeback.
Gasly threw the race away.
Schumi 2 has started the driving lessons.
Giovinazzi betrayed in the pits.”
