Italian sports journalist and author Leo Turrini, who is one of Italy’s leading Formula 1 experts and is famously very close to proceedings at Scuderia Ferrari, shared his thoughts on the Maranello team’s prospects for the next round of the 2022 Formula 1 season, the Miami Grand Prix and also discussed the Italian side’s intentions regarding the first big upgrades for the F1-75 car. Here is an extract from his latest blog post:
“Talking to the Ferrari people on the eve of the departure to Florida, I was told that it will obviously be another tough challenge, shrouded in inevitable uncertainty due to the new track. I’ve been told there are similarities with Jeddah. There are, in Miami, very long straights, alternating with slow sections. So far, we’ve seen Red Bull’s advantage on the straights, offset by Ferrari’s traction in the corners. The impact of the weather will also be assessed. The relative cold temperature of Imola has made it easier for the drivers to manage their tyres.” – the Italian sports journalist and author explained, ahead of the 2022 Miami Grand Prix.
“I don’t think they [Ferrari] will present any sensational developments in Miami. For now, we are on the area of what the engineers call “refinements”. It will be a different story, again on paper, from Barcelona onwards.” – he added, regarding Ferrari’s plans for upcoming developments.
“I have already said that for us Ferrari fans, there is the problem of having forgotten how to fight for the title. We are too extreme in terms of emotional reaction: the roller coaster of anxiety is actually a Red roller coaster! The important thing is that the team doesn’t think like us fans.” – Leo Turrini concluded.
