Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz was outside the top ten in the second free practice session at the Spa-Francorchamps circuit but believes there is more time to come from his car and is confident ahead of the qualifying session for the 2021 Belgian Grand Prix:
“At the moment we are on the verge of the top 10, which is not at the level that we were in Hungary or Silverstone, for example” – Carlos Sainz admited at the end of the second free practice session on Friday – “But at the same time, I feel like the car today felt quite a bit strange and there is quite a bit of time to come from nailing a good set up for tomorrow and and improving it. So not great, but I also feel like there’s good potential.” – the Ferrari driver added.
“It is great to be back, especially at a circuit like this which always gives you a great feeling in a Formula 1 car. Today I enjoyed myself. In terms of performance, however, we didn’t have the best of Fridays. We could not complete a proper long run in FP2 and the short runs were also tricky with the balance of the car. We have a bit of homework to do overnight, but I’m confident we can improve and be in a better place tomorrow. The weather looks uncertain for Saturday and Sunday. The rain can appear anytime, as we saw today with F3 qualifying, so we’ll be prepared for any conditions.” – Scuderia Ferrari Spanish driver Carlos Sainz concluded.
