British business magnate and former chief executive of the Formula One Group Bernie Ecclestone believes that Scuderia Ferrari are in a really strong position for next season and that they have the best driver line up for the 2020 Formula 1 season. Ferrari have improved throughout the season and will hope to be fast from the first weekend in 2020.
At the same time Bernie Ecclestone believes that Charles Leclerc is a real talent but that he still needs a bit of time to develop and iron out his faults.
“The boy is good, but he still makes too many mistakes in the Ferrari. Just like Max Verstappen did at the beginning of his career,” Bernie Ecclestone said, as reported by Speedweek.com – “Only if you get the peace in the cockpit, you can fight also for the world title. Like my friend Sebastian Vettel. Okay, he let some races from the rest, doubted, but fortunately came back again. Ferrari has the strongest driver duo in 2020.” – the former Formula 1 boss added.
However, for the second part of the 2019 Formula 1 season, Ferrari have had the fastest car (although mostly in qualifying) but the Maranello team has not always been able to convert that into race points: “You have to be able to live in the executive suite. Especially when finally the best car comes from Maranello!” – Bernie Ecclestone concluded.
Scuderia Ferrari will hope that they have developed a strong team this year and that they can build on those foundations next season.
