The Scuderia Ferrari Mission Winnow drivers will both start the one thousandth race in the history of Formula1 from the second row of the grid. Just 17 thousandths. Pole position for tomorrow’s race, which starts at 08:10 (14.10 CET,) went to Valtteri Bottas with a lap in 1’31”547.
Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel has claimed Mercedes have “too big” of a gap to his Maranello team following the Chinese Grand Prix qualifying.
Sebastian Vettel led the grid in the opening practice session at the Shanghai International Circuit, but Mercedes have dominated in China ever since.
Asked by Motorsport.com if the gap to Mercedes was breakable, Seb said: “It’s too big. We’d like it to be the other way round, obviously, but I think we had a decent session. It’s important if we can’t beat them to be right behind them, so we have some options tomorrow hopefully. On our side, I think we were able to improve the car from where we were yesterday so I’m reasonably happy with that, but not entirely happy. I think there was a little bit more. It was a bit tricky today to put the laps together. I was actually quite happy I managed the final attempt because it was quite marginal on time. Obviously everybody timed it around the same, so we all left for the same spot.”
“The past two races, we had little issues here and there.xBahrain didn’t go my way. Saturday, had a small problem. Sunday, struggled in the first stint. Here and there, I’m not happy. You try and drive around the problems and try to set up the car properly. Maybe some things related to tracks, which Barcelona doesn’t show, but the car is strong so it’s up to us to extract the performance.” – Scuderia Ferrari German driver Sebastian Vettel concluded.
