Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes are among several teams to change car parts between the qualifying session for the 2022 Miami Grand Prix an the race which takes place later today at the Miami International Autodrome. The Maranello team have fitted a new fuel primer pump to the F1-75 car of Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc’s car, while the 2021 F1 world champions have replaced the RHS (right-hand side) external master switch on George Russell’s challenger ahead of the race in Florida.
The sport’s governing body have confirmed that these components have been changed with the approval of FIA Technical Delegate Jo Bauer, after the teams submitted a written request. Alongside Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes, several penalty-free changes have been made at McLaren, Alpine, AlphaTauri, Williams, Alfa Romeo and Haas.
The biggest list of changes comes at Alpine, as a result of Esteban Ocon’s heavy crash during final practice, which did not allow him to take part in the qualifying session on Saturday.
Along with a host of new bodywork, the gearbox, survival cell, driver’s seat and steering column/rack have been swapped out on Esteban Ocon’s Alpine car.
