Carlos Sainz bids farewell to the fans
With laps completed at Fiorano alongside his father, Carlos Sainz said goodbye to Ferrari and its fans after four years, marked by as many victories.
The Spanish driver, always very consistent on track, won over many fans (though not all), to the point that many braved the cold on Tuesday to wish Smooth Operator good luck for his next adventure. Some are even already hoping for his return in the future.
The exchange
While Carlos Sainz was signing autographs, a fan jokingly told him not to sell his house in Italy. The new Williams driver caught on and replied, “Maybe I’ll still need it, won’t I?”
this is the full conversation. ♡
“don’t sell the house”
“a comeback, your children…”
carlos: maybe i still need it, no? what do you think?
“yes for sure”
“listen to me, ok?”
carlos: thank you…

Destination Williams
A return for Carlos Sainz is, of course, a distant possibility for now, as Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari chapter hasn’t even begun. However, neither Carlos Sainz nor Frederic Vasseur has ruled out the possibility of working together again (as has happened before at Ferrari, with examples like Gerhard Berger and Kimi Raikkonen). For now, Carlos Sainz’s focus is on helping Williams grow and return to being a consistently competitive team. As for the future, there will be time to decide.
