In Spain, Scuderia Ferrari must react to the disastrous weekend at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal and Frederic Vasseur is well aware of this. New developments on the SF-24 are expected to debut on the Barcelona track to maximize its potential.
On the eve of the Spanish weekend, the Ferrari team principal spoke about the Maranello team’s expectations for the upcoming round of the 2024 Formula 1 championship.
Frederic Vasseur’s comments:
“In the Spanish Grand Prix, we want to return to the levels of competitiveness we have consistently shown so far this season,” explained the Ferrari boss in view of the race weekend which will take place at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal.
“The team has learned from what happened in Canada, and I believe we have already turned the page. We need to work calmly and focus on ourselves, also inspired by the fantastic result achieved by our colleagues in Ferrari Hypercar at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, where they won for the second year in a row.” – the Frenchman continued – “The Spanish circuit is a testing ground for the entire car package, and we expect to regain our usual form here. That said, almost always this season, we have seen a fight measured in hundredths both in qualifying and in the race, so it will be crucial to take care of every detail.” – he added.
“The team must remain super focused because only with perfect execution on track can we reach where we want and know we can be.”
The Spanish Grand Prix will also be Carlos Sainz‘s home race, and Frederic Vasseur also shared a thought for the Spanish Ferrari driver: “It is Carlos’s home race, and I am sure that being supported by an extra number of fans will be an additional boost of confidence for him. We are looking forward to an intense weekend in which we aim to bring home many points.” – the Ferrari team boss concluded.
