Ferrari F1-75 speed in slow corners should be decisive in Hungary: "Our goal is a 1-2 finish"

Unfortunately the golden rule continues to apply this year: Charles Leclerc sets the pace, Max Verstappen takes the points. This is another statistic. Ferrari’s number one has started from pole position seven times, while his opponent has won seven times. At the moment, the two are separated by 63 points. More than two Grand Prix wins. It’s difficult to catch up when the rival drives flawlessly like a machine and the Red Bull car no longer has any technical problems.

Ferrari’s joker is just the faster car at the moment. Both on a lap and in the race since the Canadian Grand Prix. Since having a rear wing that reduces the top speed deficit, the Ferrari engineers have more setup options for the F1-75 cars. And always somehow manage to keep tire wear under control despite the speed advantage. “They have so much downforce that they’re faster when they slide around,” Max Verstappen complained.

According to German automobile magazine Auto Motor und Sport, it looks like Ferrari is currently gaining more ground with its few but targeted upgrades than Red Bull, who are constantly upgrading the underbody. Ferrari’s new floor may be a bigger step forward than it appeared on the debut. “The lap set by Carlos Sainz in Q2 in qualifying was extraterrestrial. We were almost a second away. That must give us food for thought if they are able to reproduce such times regularly,” warned Red Bull Sports Director Helmut Marko.

The characteristics of the two cars are as different as they look. Ferrari makes its time in the corners, Red Bull on the straights. Calculated on the lap time, the corner advantage has been the better card for most of the times. Max Verstappen fears: “In Budapest, they’ll easily drive off”, while Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto hopes the Dutchman is right: “Our goal is not just to win in Hungary, but to achieve a one-two.”
