Scuderia Ferrari have unveiled their interpretation of the revolutionary technical regulations introduced for 2022 with a digital launch of the F1-75. One of the most important factors for the potential success of the new challenger will be the power unit, especially taking into consideration that Formula One will put a stop to all engine development starting with the next seaosn.
The development freeze will coincide with the overhaul to Formula 1’s aerodynamic rules, which many hope will end Mercedes’ current dominance of the sport
Ferrari head of the Power Unit Area, Enrico Gualtieri, reflects on the development work which was done on the new power unit that will be used starting with the 2022 Formula 1 season:

“The season that is about to begin represents for us the biggest moment of an important path, given the ambitious goal that we have set ourselves as a group to develop our product in the best possible way: the power unit. It was an intense and exciting challenge. All parts of the power unit have been reviewed, some have been optimised, while others were decidedly innovative. We started from the main concept of seeking the utmost efficiency in the energy transformation process, from the chemical one in terms of combustion to the mechanical one at the crankshaft. Everything else has been designed with this goal in mind. In an equally functional way, we then defined a layout of the power unit that best met the needs of our colleagues in the chassis area, given the evolution of the new car regulations. We did it with passion, determination and team spirit, aware of the responsibility to best honor not only our group goal but also the spirit of the entire team that celebrates on track the 75 years of our company on the track.” – Ferrari head of the Power Unit Area Enrico Gualtieri explained.
