“Yes, but it’s not a problem. Everyone copies everyone “- said Scuderia Ferarri Team principal Mattia Binotto regarding the presence of Adrian Newey in front of the F1-75 cars on the grid ahead of the 2022 French Grand Prix, while the British Formula One engineer was taking notes on the new solutions seen on the Ferrari cars at the Circuit Paul Ricard.
“It is right to observe what other teams bring to the track, to understand which technical solutions could give you advantages, to try them in the wind gallery and see how they work” – No sooner said than done. Ferrari copied the double t-tray shown at the presentation by Aston Martin at the start of the season. Subsequently, a McLaren-inspired knife appeared on the floor (in the illustration bellow provided by Rosario Giuliana for formu1a.uno), as well as a skate in the rear area taken from the Red Bull design.

A new floor version has been introduced by Scuderia Ferrari in France, the most important since the F1-75 made its track debut back in February for the pre-season testing sessions. That floor which David Sanchez, Ferrari’s Head of Vehicle Concept, announced after the first test session held at the Circuit de Cataluya in Montmelo, Spain: “In the medium term, the goal is to design a new floor that can solve porpoising, allowing the car to express itself at its peak without problems of this kind.”
It is therefore no coincidence that the initial planning has been changed. The new macro component should have made its debut on both cars in Hungary, or the earlier on a car at Paul Ricard, keeping a reserve floor that could have arrived on Saturday for the chosen driver. However, an incredible job was carried out in Maranello to be able to bring the second component already on Friday morning, a few hours therefore before the start of the final free practice session which, after the very positive feedback of FP1 and FP2 on the car of Charles Leclerc, was mounted also on the other F1-75 car of Carlos Sainz.
