Extra work for the Scuderia Ferrari mechanics before the first free practice session for the 2022 Hungarian Grand Prix at the Hungaroring racetrack in Mogyorod, near Budapest. In fact, the Maranello team had to repair Charles Leclerc’s gearbox, damaged by the Monegasque in an attempt to get out of the barriers after the Paul Ricard accident last weekend.
The Italian side simply replaced the damaged parts with identical components, as the report by FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer pointed out.
“A seal was broken in the gearbox of car number 16 driven by Charles Leclerc, in order to inspect all pairs of gears […] for any physical damage. Following this inspection, the pair of reverse gear ratios and the associated throttle actuator were replaced with identical and new specifications”.
