F1 | Motivation at its peak, but one key factor: how Ferrari is preparing for Qatar
After the disappointing Las Vegas weekend, Ferrari is heading into the penultimate weekend of the 2025 season in Qatar with a crucial factor that could play a decisive role. As the last event with the Sprint format approaches, Team Principal Frederic Vasseur outlined Ferrari’s strategy for Losail and highlighted the element that could determine their performance during the Grand Prix.
Ferrari’s advantage at the circuit
The Qatar circuit is completely different from Las Vegas. Geographically, temperatures can reach extreme highs, making it one of the most physically demanding weekends, especially due to the track layout itself. The track features a series of high-speed corners that follow one another in rapid succession. In the final sector, drivers face three consecutive right-handers that place tremendous G-forces on the neck. Opportunities for overtaking are limited due to the lack of heavy braking zones, making starting position critical.
Last year, Ferrari scored an excellent second place in Qatar with Charles Leclerc, who managed to take advantage of Lando Norris’s penalty to position himself just behind Max Verstappen.
Expectations for 2025
How will the SF-25 perform in Qatar? Team Principal Frederic Vasseur outlined the team’s approach for the weekend: “After a challenging weekend in Las Vegas, we arrive in Qatar fully focused and eager to get back on track. Losail is a very different circuit, with high-speed corners that test both the car and the driver. Additionally, Pirelli’s new lap limit adds another strategic element,” he explained.
“We are focused on ourselves and on seizing every opportunity that the final Sprint weekend of the season will offer. Motivation is at its peak, and we are determined to finish the season in the best possible way.” – the French manager concluded.
Ferrari currently sits fourth in the constructors’ championship – last of the traditional top four teams – making a victory (or at the very least a big haul of points) in Qatar and Abu Dhabi essential for pride, momentum, and ending the season on a positive note.
