With pre-season testing limited to three days, Scuderia Ferrari is targeting a run for Carlos Sainz, albeit in an old car. The Spanish driver is to have his first taste of a Formula 1 Ferrari when he drives a 2018 car at Fiorano next week (for the moment the exact day has not been confirmed.
Carlos Sainz was at the factory again last week getting to know the team, his engineers and mechanics, to familiarise himself with his crew and how the Italian side works.
At the same time, Charles Leclerc continues his recovery from Covid-19 and for the moment is not able to travel to Maranello, as the team continues the development work on the SF21, which will take to the track at the official testing session. Testing for the 2021 season is scheduled for March, although the date of what should have been the first race has already been pushed back as the Australian Grand Prix has been moved from 19-21 March to 19-21 November because of Covid-19 restrictions.
Charles Leclerc announced last week that he has tested positive for Covid-19, in a statement on Twitter. Charles confirmed that he only has mild symptoms and is expected to fully recover next week, when he is also expected to travel to Maranello. He currently remains in isolation in his home in Monaco in compliance with the regulations set by the local health authorities.
