Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc had his watch stolen by a so-called fan who asked him for a photo in the Tuscan seaside resort of Viareggio on Easter Monday, sources said Tuesday, according to leading wire service in Italy ANSA.
Monégasque driver Charles Leclerc, 24, was with his personal trainer at the marina there when the man snatched his watch and ran off.
Andrea Ferrari, the personal trainer of the Ferrari driver, posted a photo of the dark street where the theft took place on Instagram. He confirmed the Rolex watch was worth several thousand euros.
The incident took place in via Salvatori, in the Darsena district, with Italian police of the Viareggio area who went to the scene as soon as they received the report. The investigations are now entrusted to Edoardo Cetola, who must also manage the media implications of a difficult case, as Charles Leclerc is now a very well-known public figure.
