Ferrari man Carlos Sainz, who during the last few months has been rumored to join Audi for the 2026 Formula 1 season, has refused to discuss his future, deeming it foolish to do so while he remains under contract with the Maranello team and has aspirations of winning a Formula 1 championship with the Italian side.
The Spaniard signed for Scuderia Ferrari two years ago amidst speculation that he was brought in as Charles Leclerc’s secondary driver. However, the Spanish driver quickly dispelled those notions by outperforming his Monegasque teammate in their debut season together.
Although he fell short in their subsequent rivalry during the 2022 Formula 1 campaign, Carlos Sainz achieved his first Formula 1 race victory at the British Grand Prix last year, as the Silverstone weekend also marked his inaugural pole position.
Unfortunately, Ferrari has struggled to make progress this year, with their SF-23 single significantly trailing behind Red Bull’s impressive race pace.
Thus far, neither Ferrari driver has claimed a race victory in this start of the season, as Red Bull has secured all five wins. Only Charles Leclerc has managed to reach the podium at the Baku City circuit, while Carlos Sainz’s best result was a fourth-place finish at the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix.

With Scuderia Ferrari’s performance waning, both teammates have been the subject of speculation, with Charles Leclerc linked to Mercedes and Carlos Sainz associated with Audi, who will enter the championship in 2026. For now, both Ferrari drivers have a contract with the Maranello team which is available until the end of the 2024 campaign.
