A visibly frustrated Charles Leclerc spoke to the microphones at the end of the qualifying session for the 2024 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix, with both Ferrari cars excluded from Q3 due to Lance Stroll’s last-minute effort in the second cut. The SF24 car struggled significantly to find grip and bring the tires up to temperature from the start, also due to the low temperatures that accompanied the Canadian afternoon.
A big blow in Montreal for the Maranello team
“What happened? We were simply slow, slow all day. We had similar problems to those this morning. I had an issue with a sensor that was very annoying. The management of the car and the session was also not the best.” – Charles Leclerc explained when asked by the media what went wrong – “Overall, it was a difficult session. I would say the biggest problem is the pace. At the moment we are very slow on the dry. We can’t understand it. So it’s a bit strange to go from a really positive weekend in Monaco in terms of pace to coming here and being so far behind. We will evaluate the situation.” – the Monegasque driver added.
“The real problem is that today every lap we did, we were between eighth and twelfth,” added the Monegasque to Sky. “I’m quite pissed off because we didn’t get the time on the last lap, and it wasn’t good.
“At the same time, there was a McLaren in the middle of turn 10. Putting everything together, the result of this qualifying is that we are not fast enough.” – pointed out.
Despite the great disappointment, the Monegasque still wants to look forward to tomorrow with confidence, hoping for better race pace: “I am still confident that tomorrow, in the race, we can put everything together and achieve a better result.”
“However, so far we have not shown it on the dry, so let’s see what the conditions are and try to maximize the result. I think this is the main thing in races like this.”
“We just have to make sure to take the maximum points available. This weekend we haven’t been good. We will focus on this aspect after the weekend to understand where we went wrong. For now, the best thing we can do is focus on tomorrow.” – Scuderia Ferrari Monegasque driver Charles Leclerc concluded at the end of the qualifying session for the 2024 Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal.
