Several Italian and worldwide media outlets reported in recent weeks about an alleged incident between Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto and Charles Leclerc. The source was of course anonymous but stated that the paddock in Monza witnessed a quarrel between Mattia Binotto and Charles Leclerc. The initial news was published by Italian website fanpage.it.
“Both Leclerc and Binotto were animated, taking ugly digs at each other. And this eventually caught the attention of bystanders including Nicholas Todt, the son of FIA president Jean Todt, who sprung into action to calm the duo, finally bringing brief peace to the Ferrari garage.” – wrote several reports, as the news was later publised by other English outlets.
grandprix247.com was the latest to inform about a fall-out between the team principal and one of the drivers over the Italian Grand Prix weekend, but has now confirmed the misinformation, explaining that “the alleged incident did not occur and thus I made incorrect assumptions based on what was not facts which, in retrospect, we should have checked with the team’s media office before going live” – they wrote, while apologizing to Ferrari, the Maranello team’s fans and their readers. At the same time they confirmed that the Scuderia Ferrari media office clearly denied that such a moment ever happened.
