Ferrari criticises Italian media: “That is not the solution”. Ferrari criticises Italian media.

Louis Camilleri knows what Ferrari needs to be successful again in Formula 1. In the view of Ferrari’s CEO, stability is the key to new world championships in the highest class of motorsport. In doing so, he makes a comparison with the successes of Red Bull Racing and Mercedes.

“I have to say I have every confidence in Mattia Binotto and his team,” Camilleri said in an interview with The New York Times. The 65-year-old top man knows that the results do not currently match what he says. “These things take time. Regretfully in the past, there has been too much pressure and a history of people being let go. There was somewhat of a revolving-door atmosphere, and I’m putting a stop to that.”

Above all, Ferrari needs stability and focus, according to Camilleri in the American newspaper. “If you look at Red Bull’s period of winning championships, Mercedes today, other than talent, one of the key things they had was stability, and that’s something frankly our team has been lacking”, he is honest.

According to the Maranello-based race stable, during the Jean Todt, Michael Schumacher and Ross Brawn era (around the year 2000) it also took six years for the team to become the dominant factor in Formula 1. “So I want to ensure that stability remains in place, despite the unbelievable pressure there is on the team, particularly from the Italian media, who are quite brutal at times, calling for heads to roll, but that’s not the solution.”

Camilleri keeps his eyes peeled on some of the extra people that are coming in, because adding extra quality to the team is certainly something that is being looked at. “This doesn’t mean, however, that we won’t consider injecting additional skills and resources into the existing team,” he concludes his story.
