Ferrari has decided to sign a new driver for the 2026 season, which is now fast approaching, securing the services of an Italian talent who has already enjoyed significant success. In the world of motorsport, the ultimate goal is constant improvement, even after seasons filled with strong results. This mindset helps explain Ferrari’s decision to bring in a new driver ahead of what represents a highly important 2026 campaign for the Maranello-based team.
The upcoming season is seen as a major opportunity for Ferrari to continue strengthening its presence across different racing disciplines, reinforcing its commitment to excellence and long-term development. The decision to expand its driver line-up reflects the Scuderia’s ambition to remain competitive at the highest level, not only in Formula 1 but also in endurance racing.
The official announcement of the new driver
Just a few days before the presentation of the SF-26, the car with which Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc will chase the Formula 1 World Championship title, Ferrari has released an important announcement concerning its Endurance programme. “Ferrari is pleased to announce that Tommaso Mosca will join its official driver line-up starting from the 2026 season. Born in Brescia on 10 April 2000, Mosca has gained significant experience with Ferrari GT cars over the past three seasons, winning two titles in the Italian GT Endurance Championship. He now becomes part of the Prancing Horse’s official driver family and will compete in the leading international endurance series,” reads the statement published on the Italian team’s official channels.
The announcement underlines Ferrari’s intention to rely on drivers who have already demonstrated their competitiveness with GT machinery, particularly in endurance racing environments that demand consistency, technical understanding and adaptability across long race distances.
Tommaso Mosca himself also wanted to briefly comment on the news. “Since I was a child, I have always dreamed of racing for Ferrari. Joining the group of official drivers is therefore a great dream come true. I am proud and excited to begin this fantastic adventure. Thanks to the experience of my team-mates, drivers with highly respectable careers, I am confident that I can learn a great deal and continue to improve from a technical point of view. The goal for 2026 is to give my all in order to achieve the best possible results in the international competitions in which I will be involved,” were his words.
With this signing, Ferrari once again highlights its focus on nurturing Italian talent while reinforcing its ambitions in endurance racing ahead of a crucial new season.

The official signing of Tommaso Mosca highlights Ferrari’s dual-track strategy for 2026: while the Formula 1 team prepares for a radical technical overhaul with Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc, the Endurance department is ensuring its future by securing the brightest homegrown talents. By elevating a proven winner from the Italian GT ranks to the status of an official driver, the Prancing Horse is not just honoring its heritage but actively building a new generation of champions capable of maintaining their dominance on the world stage.
