“We are happy for Italy’s successes in Tokyo and in the European football championship, we cheered for the Azzurri and we will always continue to do so, but at the same time we are also eagerly waiting to get back to winning ways to continue the myth of the Prancing Horse”. This is just one of the passages from an interview with Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto published in today’s Corriere dello Sport.
“There is no going back”
The Ferrari boss also gives a strong and positive signal in view of the technical revolution from next year, as the cars will radically change and force the drivers to change their driving style.
“With the 2022 project we are at a good point – revealed Mattia Binotto – We’ve already defined the chassis, suspension and gearbox. Now we’ll move on to the drawings and production, so that we can have the complete car by the end of the year and get it on the test benches. This project has been a priority for us. We tried all the possible aerodynamic solutions in the wind tunnel to be sure of our choices.”
“More powerful engine on the way”
And there is also a wild card that the Maranello team can still play for this year: the right to an evolution of the engine that we will only see towards the end of the season: “The other important element will be the new power unit [for 2022]. We are working hard on it, even with the limitation of the number of hours allowed on the dyno. But it will not make its debut at Monza, we will delay it in order to understand as much as possible and take advantage of the opportunity for 2022”.
