Team boss confident Ferrari ‘will have a strong power unit again’ in 2022. Binotto on Ferrari's planned development.

Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto interview for Sky Germany, at the end of the first race of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Bahrain Grand Prix:

“The car is better than last year, there is no doubt about that. The aerodynamics are certainly better, we can see that in the correlation. And we have also improved the power unit within the limits of what was possible. The gap to the other power units have become smaller. Next year I think we will have a strong power unit again. But the differences are getting smaller and smaller. We are working in the right direction with the right tools. That makes me optimistic for the future.” – he explained.

The Ferrari boss was also interviewed by Motorsport Italy after the event of the Bahrain International Circuit and confirmed that the Maranello team will soon shift focus to next season, when the new rules will make it extremely important for Ferrari to have a strong car: “The goal for this season is to understand the car and improve on the pitstops and strategy, as the car will not develop much because we are very focused on 2022. The important thing is that the developments are both useful and positive”. – Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto concluded.
