Ferrari completed the young drivers’ training yesterday on the Mugello track, following the work program we had anticipated on ScuderiaFans.com. Wednesday was Dino Beganovic’s turn, while Thursday was Arthur Leclerc’s. The Maranello team fielded an SF-23 for this Testing Previous Cars session, organized to keep the Scuderia rookies in shape as they will be called upon to participate in the FP1 sessions required by the regulations.
Indeed, the FIA this year has doubled the mandatory rookie appearances on Grand Prix Fridays. Dino Beganovic has already made his debut in the SF-25 at the Bahrain GP, slipping into Charles Leclerc’s cockpit: the 21-year-old Swede fulfilled the first slot required by the regulations, but the involvement of the young drivers in F1 goes beyond the four scheduled appearances, as the two rookies are also part of the test drivers used in simulator development work.
Arthur Leclerc, younger brother of the Monegasque race driver, also completed his work positively. The test team, which also includes young engineers gaining their first track experience, explored some mechanical setup solutions that could be transferred to the SF-25, in the hope of finding the key to unlocking the potential of the red car, which has been greatly disappointing fans’ expectations.
