Despite the tests being held behind closed doors, almost all teams released data on the number of laps completed, allowing an initial overview to be drawn when it comes to reliability, team by team.
At the top of the standings sits Mercedes, which concluded the Barcelona tests having completed an impressive 500 laps, equal to 2,325 kilometres. This figure corresponds to more than seven and a half Barcelona Grands Prix, underlining the strong reliability shown by the Silver Arrows over the three days.
Second place goes to Ferrari, which also had to deal with wet conditions on Day 2. The Scuderia wrapped up the shakedown with 440 laps completed, equivalent to more than six and a half Grands Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya.
The three-day recap
Scrolling through what could be described as the “Reliability Grand Prix” classification, Red Bull stands out in sixth place with 303 laps completed. Just behind them are the reigning world champions McLaren, who encountered some unexpected issues during the test and stopped at 288 laps.
At the back of the field are Aston Martin, with just 66 laps completed, having effectively used only the final day for an initial shakedown, and Williams, which did not take part in the Barcelona tests at all.

Power unit reliability: which engine performed best?
Once again, the Mercedes power unit stands out as the most reliable. Combining the works team, Alpine and McLaren, the German engine surpassed the 1,100-lap mark over the course of the test.
Ferrari follows closely in second place, just under 1,000 laps when adding together the mileage of the Scuderia and its customer teams, Haas and Cadillac.
Red Bull can be satisfied with the first power unit produced in-house together with Ford, which completed more than 600 laps when combined with Racing Bulls.
Some early reliability issues emerged for Audi, which totalled 240 laps. Honda, meanwhile, was affected by Aston Martin’s late arrival in Barcelona and finished last with just 66 laps completed, exactly the distance of a single Barcelona Grand Prix.
It is also worth noting that, in terms of power units, teams were allowed to run with fuels that do not fully comply with the regulatory specifications, thanks to an exception granted by the FIA. However, homologation of the new fuels will need to happen quickly, with only six days of testing remaining before the Australian Grand Prix.
| Power unit | Teams | Laps |
|---|---|---|
| Mercedes | 4 (3 on track) | 1134 |
| Ferrari | 3 | 995 |
| Red Bull Ford | 2 | 624 |
| Audi | 1 | 240 |
| Honda | 1 | 66 |
