It was a weekend of celebration for Ferrari as the Italian side put an end to a 50-year absence from the 24 Hours of Le Mans by toppling mighty Toyota in the centenary running of the most iconic sports car race in the world. The trio of Alessandro Pier Guidi, James Calado and Antonio Giovinazzi – with Ferrari Formula One driver Charles Leclerc in the garage watching – were the easy winner on a memorable weekend of the Italian side.
Now the focus shifts to Formula 1, as we are getting closer to the next round of the 2023 championship, the Canadian Grand Prix, which will take place this weekend at the 4.361-kilometre Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal, with the Maranello team hoping to show some signs of improvement following the big aerodynamic package introduced last time out at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona. The upgrades did not seem to bring gains in terms of pure pace, but team principal Frederic Vasseur, as well as Carlos Sainz, confirmed that the upgrade package worked well and the team is now heading in the right direction.
Spanish Grand Prix: No physical issues or malfunctions on Charles Leclerc’s SF-23
In 2022 – at the Gilles Villeneuve circuit – Charles Leclerc started from the back of the grid (due to a penalty) while Carlos Sainz arguably had his best race in red, putting great pressure on Max Verstappen in the fight for the Canadian Grand Prix race win.
In the meantime, the car of Charles Leclerc was thoroughly inspected in Maranello, and no significant physical issues or malfunctions were found. It is likely that some settings betrayed the Monegasque driver in qualifying but were then corrected with a complete reset of the setup in parc fermé ahead of the Spanish Grand Prix at the Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona.

Even those who believed that changing direction in every department would solve certain problems faster have no choice but to give the current management more time and, if possible, the same tranquility offered to Antonello Coletta, head of Ferrari Attività Sportive GT.
