The relationship between the seven-time world champion and his pit wall chief has never fully blossomed. Amid misunderstandings and a working method different from what the No. 44 was used to at Mercedes, fans have repeatedly voiced their desire for a change in this area. Even Fred Vasseur, in recent statements, opened the door to the possibility of seeing a different figure alongside Lewis Hamilton.
Ferrari’s decision for 2026
Despite the speculation, it seems that Ferrari has now made a clear decision. According to sources gathered by AutoRacer.it, a single dinner was enough to finalize the lineup for next year. Riccardo Adami will remain Lewis Hamilton’s race engineer for the 2026 season. However, the Italian engineer will be joined by a new figure whose task will be to assist the British driver in managing the electric aspects of the new power units. The same approach will be applied to Charles Leclerc, and it will likely become a standard practice across other teams as well.
Ferrari has chosen continuity as they approach a pivotal season. With the massive 2026 regulatory overhaul looming, every detail inside and outside the cockpit will require maximum focus, and maintaining the existing bond between driver and engineer has been deemed the safest path forward.
