Ferrari has replaced the gearbox on Charles Leclerc’s car: the Monegasque driver won’t receive any penalties and will have a completely new car in Imola.
Ferrari replaces gearbox on Charles Leclerc’s car
Charles Leclerc will drive a completely new car in the Imola Grand Prix, not only because of the significant package of updates brought by Scuderia Ferrari. After replacing the power unit, introducing the third engine of the 2024 Formula 1 season, the Maranello team did the same with the gearbox of SF-24 #16.
Charles Leclerc won’t incur any penalties, as each driver can rely on five specifications for the entire season: the Monegasque driver is on the third component (the second was used at Suzuka).

Charles Leclerc, with the new engine, was the standout performer on Friday at the Imola circuit, leading in both free practice sessions for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix and thus providing an initial confirmation of the effectiveness of Ferrari’s updates.
