Having arrived at Ferrari on 1 September 2021, Benedetto Vigna took over Louis Camilleri in the role of chief executive officer of the Prancing Horse. The physicist and businessman from Potenza was included in October of the same year among the top Italian managers and has never hidden his desire to see the Maranello team return to the top of the Formula 1 world championship.
The goal was also included yesterday among the four priorities of the company for 2023, together with the development of innovative products with the launch of four new models, broaden the customer base and focus on innovation by continuing to increase the patents filed.
Benedetto Vigna, as is well known, will be the direct contact person for Frederic Vasseur, the new team principal and general manager of the Maranello team, who has replaced Mattia Binotto since the beginning of January. The working relationship between the two will clearly be very close and the French engineer himself confirmed that he speaks to his superior every day.
During an interview presented earlier this morning by the Italian pay television channel Class CNBC broadcaster, Benedetto Vigna reassured that nothing was left to chance for the new Formula 1 season, which will start in about one months: “We will see the new car on February 14, on Valentine’s Day. What I can say is that the whole team and with Fred who recently came to us, they are working hard to make the car as best as possible and to have a winning team. This will be the key feature“. There was even time for a joke about the figure of Frederic Vasseur, who arrived from Alfa Romeo Sauber and with a long previous experience in motorsport: “I like Fred, he has that energy and that dose of entrepreneurship that we need to compete at the top for the final prize, which is the Formula 1 world championship title.” – explained the Italian manager.
