After Louis Camilleri left, Ferrari searched for its new CEO for a long time and eventually turned to a tech executive to navigate the transition towards electrification in the automotive industry, appointing Benedetto Vigna as its new boss, who holds several patents in the field of technology. Taking office on September 1, Benedetto Vigna addressed his first conference call yesterday, commenting on the double-digit growth for the Modena-based company and the net profit of over one billion reached for the first time in history. The estimates for the current year have been revised upwards, also thanks to the revenues linked to the activities related to Formula 1, which will complete the number of races expected at the start of the championship.
In recent months, the CEO of Ferrari has not given interviews relating to racing and even in Monza, where he was present together with president John Elkann, he did not speak with the journalists. There was therefore curiosity to understand if in the course of the comment on the company’s economic data, Benedetto Vigna would approach – and in what terms – the Formula 1 topic.
The issue was approached marginally, underlining the steps forward made by the Maranello team after the summer break and reassuring about the Scuderia’s present and future commitment in the sporting field: “In Formula 1 even in the last few races we have seen some positive signs of progress. Racing on the track has always been deeply in the DNA of Ferrari history. So it is today, so it will be in the future” – Ferrari Chief Executive Officer Benedetto Vigna said.
