Scuderia Ferrari is back on track at Sakhir: the Maranello team is on stage in Bahrain to continue the development of the 18-inch Pirelli tyres that will make their debut next year on ground-effect single-seaters.
Carlos Sainz is the Scuderia driver who started the day at the wheel of the Ferrari “mule car”, at around 10 am local time, that is the SF90 which has been modified in suspension and aerodynamics to meet the characteristics the 2022 cars will have with the new regulation.
The start of activity on the track was delayed due to a problem which regarded the track, but the Spaniard completed the program planned by the Italian technicians by covering 54 laps (almost a GP) with seven sets of experimental tyres.
We remind you that this is the first of three days of testing at Sakhir: the first is entrusted to Scuderia Ferrari (Charles Leclerc will be on track this afternoon), while tomorrow and Thursday it will be the Alpine’s turn.
Ferrari has already carried out three days of testing in Jerez de la Frontera from 22 to 24 February, alternating work on slick tyres and looking for an initial evaluation of the wet ones.
