Ferrari brought lighter parts at Imola to reduce weight of F1-75 car. Ferrari brought lighter parts at Imola to reduce weight of F1-75 car.

According to German automobile magazine ‘Auto Motor und Sport’, Scuderia Ferrari did not bring any upgrades to Imola for the 2022 Emilia Romagna Grand Prix but the Maranello team brought lighter parts in order to reduce the weight of the F1-75. As a result, the Ferrari car was around 5kg above the minimum weight and with the lighter parts it is almost close to zero now, as reported by AMuS after FP1 in Imola.

The F1 engineers’ work is currently mainly focused on the underbody. Alpha Tauri, Alpine, Alfa-Sauber and Red Bull have made some major changes there. Another battleground is the front and rear brake ducts. For better cooling and better control of the flow around the wheels. Alpine has only one package ready and Fernando Alonso will be the one to use it in Italy.

Mercedes has changed its W13 in four points, but don’t expect miracles. The engineers speak of “normal aerodynamic detail work” that will not solve the main problem. That has been and remains bouncing. In any case, the data review from Melbourne brought more light into the darkness. “We now know how it is formed and how it can be triggered, but we don’t yet have the magic formula for a solution.” This is expected for the Spanish GP.
