Scuderia Ferrari are set to bring a major engine upgrade to the British Grand Prix, which will take place after the next round of the Formula One championship, the Austrian Grand Prix. The information has been recently presented by journalist James Allen, one of the most experienced and insightful broadcasters and journalists currently working in Formula 1. The Maranello team is therefore hoping to bag major points at the race around Silverstone, the second last before the summer break.
It will be the third engine of the season as in Baku, there was a scare for Sebastian Vettel who had to change his engine after the German driver encountered problems during the third practice session ahead of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and as a result Scuderia Ferrari decided to change the engine before the qualifying session. It was an older and used engine, having already done around 5,000km, meaning that Sebastian lost some time down the 2.2 km straight, which was clearly visible in qualifying and the race on Sunday.
During the last ten years, Scuderia Ferrari has only won in Britain two times, as the last victory came back in the 2011 Formula One season, at the hands of Spanish driver Fernando Alonso. Before the British Grand Prix and the highly anticipated engine upgrade which should help the Maranello team in the championship fight with rivals Mercedes, Sebastian Vettel, the current leader of the Formula 1 Driver Standings, will have to run with the same engine as he did in Baku, before scrapping it for the rest of the season and thus try to maximise the result in the race which is scheduled to take place at the motorsport circuit Red Bull Ring, in Spielberg, Styria, Austria.
