Ferrari boss Fred Vasseur has responded to Carlos Sainz’s outburst during last weekend’s Brazilian Grand Prix in Sao Paulo, following his loss of positions at the race’s outset.
Carlos Sainz slipped from seventh to 13th due to a subpar start at the Interlagos circuit, and the ongoing clutch issues have been a persistent concern for the Maranello team, albeit one that cannot be rectified during the 2023 Formula One season.
Over the team radio, Carlos Sainz quipped told his Ferrari race engineer Riccardo Adami: “I just hope we address this clutch issue as soon as we return to Maranello.”
However, Carlos Sainz managed to stage a comeback, overtaking Lewis Hamilton and George Russell mid-race to finish the Brazilian Grand Prix in sixth place, earning eight points and helping his ide reduce the gap between to rivals Mercedes in the Constructors’ Championship to 20 points. Frederic Vasseur dismissed any worries about Carlos Sainz’s team radio message.
The French manager has clarified that Ferrari will investigate the problematic clutch, following Carlos Sainz’s later complaint about the left gear shift paddle “sticking” while changing gears: “On the first start he had a false start, we need to understand exactly what’s happened on the first one. We are struggling a little bit with the start and but it’s marginal. If you have a look on the second one, this new one went pretty well.” – the Ferrari team principal pointed out.

Carlos Sainz’s issues with reliability occurred in the very same race in which his teammate Charles Leclerc suffered a crash on the formation lap of the Brazilian Grand Prix. Charles Leclerc’s incident was a result of an electronics failure that led to the shutdown of both the engine hydraulics and power steering.
