Ferrari boss feels ‘lack of straightline speed will hurt us at Spa’ | 2021 Belgian GP. Ferrari looks ahead to the next race.

Scuderia Ferrari’s 2020 Belgian Grand Prix was unfortunately very representative for the Maranello team’s extremely poor Formula 1 season. The image of Ferrari literally crumbled by the other cars at Spa-Francorchamps is still a vivid memory in the fans of the Scuderia from Maranello. The speed difference in the Kemmel straight was crazy, where drivers Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel seemed to be riding bicycles among the mopeds. On 29 August there will be no such striking differences, but Ferrari’s will still have to manage with an inferior engine as compared to rivals Mercedes and Honda. That is why the Italian side’s team principal Mattia Binotto expressed his satisfaction for the performance shown by Ferrari in the Silverstone race, but he didn’t let himself be carried away by enthusiasm especially considering the next round of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the Belgian Grand Prix.

“I think there will be tracks where the lack of straightline speed will hurt us, for example Spa Francorchamps. But it is nice to see that at Silverstone we were fast, a circuit that is more representative for many other teams. Overall I think we can have a good second half of the season.” – said Mattia Binotto, who therefore believes that there are more Ferrari-friendly tracks than those like Spa-Francorchamps where the SF21 car will suffer on the power unit side and will try to limit the damages in the fight with McLaren for third place in the 2021 Formula 1 Constructor Standings.
