New car and increased optimism
The curtain has officially risen on Ferrari’s new season, unveiling the SF-24 to the world through a brief video and subsequent shakedown at the Fiorano circuit, featuring both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. During the press conference held in Maranello, the Frenchman focused on various aspects the Ferrari team will prioritize in the upcoming championship, approaching it with optimism: “From what we’ve seen in the simulator, we’ve managed to solve most of the problems we had,” he stated. “Last year, we identified what wasn’t working and made improvements. 2024 won’t be a transitional year but an important season for us, and I’m focused on that. I believe the best way to prepare for this season is to move forward from 2023 without thinking about 2025 in any way.”

However, 2025 will no longer see Carlos Sainz on the team, given the arrival of Lewis Hamilton, already confirmed by the Scuderia. Even before this announcement, the team had finalized the contract renewal with Charles Leclerc. The topic of drivers is significant for the team principal: “Negotiations with Charles were more direct and straightforward because he has been part of the Ferrari family for years. We have a good relationship with him and his management, and we also know his qualities. There’s nothing to hide. In conclusion, Fred Vasseur did not want to comment on the Horner case in any way, denying that this issue could impact the arrival of new personnel in the team: “I will never make any comments on this story,” he added. “We are hiring new staff, as we have done in the past and will continue to do in the future, but it has nothing to do with what is happening at Red Bull.”
