Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto has urged Formula 1 chiefs to make radical changes to the sport after the 2021 Brazilian Grand Prix, which was won by Lewis Hamilton at the Interlagos circuit, after starting from P10. The Mercedes driver was thrown out of qualifying after his rear wing was found to have breached Formula 1’s technical regulations and started Saturday’s Sprint Race from the back of the grid. Still, he managed to finish in P5. An additional five-place grid penalty due to a new combustion engine meant the Mercedes driver began the race in 10th place.
After a good start, Hamilton went to win the race, passing rival and race leader Max Verstappen en route to claiming his sixth win of the current championship.
Now the Ferrari boss feels Formula One should change the rules and consider reverse grid races.
“I think it is [feasible], honestly because of so what happened with so many overtakes, so much fun. I think we should really consider it and that’s obviously for the sprint race format and having seen what happened, I think it’s not debatable.” – he explained.

As a result, Formula 1’s managing director Ross Brawn believes it is not likely that the change would be implemented anytime soon, but at the same time he would be willing to make a trial run at some point.
