Ferrari beyond F1: Formula E could be the next motorsport project for the Prancing Horse. After Formula 1, is Ferrari thinking about a debut in Formula E?.

After Formula 1, is Ferrari thinking about a debut in Formula E? The all-electric series, which has now reached its tenth season and considerable success worldwide, could soon embrace the technology of the Prancing Horse. After its commitment in Endurance racing and the announced debut in sailing, electric racing would represent a new great challenge for the Italian company.

Ferrari is experiencing a renewed golden age in motorsport. The Formula 1 team is beginning to reap the benefits of Frédéric Vasseur and his team’s work, with the second win of the season achieved in Monaco. In the WEC, the 499P is preparing to defend the victory at Le Mans achieved in 2023, and the feeling is that it can once again be a protagonist on the track.

With the global push for new green technologies that, in the automotive sector, translate into electric, Maranello is not falling behind. A new industrial hub is ready to develop batteries and components necessary for the production of the first all-electric Ferrari, expected by 2025. The electric turn of the Prancing Horse could bring it closer to Formula E, where it would find Porsche, already a rival in Endurance racing.

“The arrival of Ferrari would elevate the championship,” said Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, to Motorsport. “I believe that Ferrari, besides bringing greater credibility to the motorsport world, carries with it a large loyal fan base, its incredible fans. So, regarding attracting traditional motorsport fans to come and watch our championship, Ferrari would do an excellent job.” – he pointed out.

“They have announced an electrification facility in Italy and have talked about a future electric line,” Jeff Dodds continued. “It’s clear that I would prefer to have them in rather than not. It would elevate the championship, whether exponentially or if it would change the game remains to be seen, but it’s clear they are on another level.” – he concluded.
