Ferrari leaves the Zandvoort circuit with a good points haul at the end of the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix, that took place earlier today in frot of an icredible crowd, which was happy for Max Verstappen’s win. The Maranello team would have hoped for a somewhat better result, but in the end the Italian side had to settle for fifth place with Charles Leclerc and seventh for Carlos Sainz, as Scuderia Ferrari has now recovered third place in the Constructors’ classification, ahead of the Italian Grand Prix next weekend.
Right from the start, the goal of both SF21 cars was to go for the best possible result without taking any unnecessary risks, both in terms of strategy and the actual driving. This decision was made on the basis that the tyres would be under a lot of strain at this track and therefore there was the possibility of a similar scenario to that seen at the Le Castellet circuit, which was the Maranello team’s worst race in the 2021 Formula 1 season. This is why Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz used the Hard compound tyres in the second part of the race, despite the fact that Pierre Gasly was able to finish the race ahead of them on the medium tyres with a single pit stop. at the pit stops which came on lap 31 for Carlos and 34 for Charles.
Scuderia Ferrari Team Principal Mattia Binotto comments and impressions at the end of the 2021 Dutch Grand Prix:
“A solid race from the whole team, which allowed us to bring home a significant points haul for the Constructors’ classification. We knew that, on a track that is very demanding in terms of tyre management, we could have found ourselves in a situation similar to the one we experienced at the French Grand Prix, but the team and drivers have worked a lot on this aspect and the results of our efforts were clear to see. Of course, it’s not a result to get really excited about and we are perfectly aware that there is still a lot to do to get back to the same level as those currently fighting for the wins. Now our focus shifts immediately to the next race at Monza. After a great show from the Dutch fans this weekend, we can’t wait to be racing in front of our own tifosi and we hope we can give them something to smile about.” – the Ferrari boss concluded, as reported by the Maranello team’s official website.
