Scuderia Ferrari, just like last week in the Brazilian Grand Prix, evaluated the possibility of using asymmetrical front brake discs in Losail: the Maranello team, compared to the San Paolo GP, changed the arrangement, using the open one to the left side of the SF21 car, while the brake disc is easily visible completely closed on the right side.
The change is dictated by the different characteristics of the two tracks: Interlagos had a counterclockwise trend with five right and ten left corners, so there was the need to thermally balance the front train with a solution exactly opposite to what was proposed in Qatar. The Losail track, in fact, has a regular pattern with ten corners that turn to the right of the sixteen that make up the facility inaugurated by the MotoGP series back in 2004.
Giorgio Piola’s image also shows us the disassembled barge boards: it is possible to observe how large and complex these aerodynamic instruments have become.

The photograph is an example because these elements will no longer be seen on the ground-effect single-seaters next year: the 2022 regulation prohibits these appendages that have had up to now a strategic importance in cleaning up the wake of the front wheel, orienting the flows destined for the cooling the power unit and separating them from those that had to be used by the floor.
