Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto confirmed that the Maranello team has made progress with its aerodynamic correlation but at the same time the Italian admitted that there is still much work to do with the SF1000 car. Mattia Binotto was asked about the Maranello team’s progress following the 2020 Hungarian Grand Prix, which took place last weekend at the Hungaroring track:
“I think that the update we brought in Austria improved the correlation we’ve done at the track. I think that at the moment at least we addressed those points but the deficit in terms of performance is still there. So we are lacking speed on the straight, we are lacking speed in cornering. I think that overall the car has to be improved in all the areas, it’s as simple as that.” – Scuderia Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto explained.
Sixth and eleventh in the Hungarian Grand Prix is a clear indication of how much work needs to be done to be competitive again. After this opening triple-header, the Championship now has a weekend off, before coming back with two races, the first on Sunday 2nd August at Silverstone, which hosted the first ever round of the F1 world championship on 13 May 1950.
