Oliver Bearman achieved the best result of his Formula 1 career at the Mexican Grand Prix, finishing in fourth place. But does this make him a future contender for a seat at Ferrari?
Current Haas driver Oliver Bearman was one of the standout performers at the Mexican GP. The British talent crossed the finish line behind Lando Norris, Charles Leclerc, and Max Verstappen, delivering a performance that did not go unnoticed. Following his impressive showing, speculation about the Ferrari Driver Academy member’s future — particularly regarding a potential move to Ferrari in 2027 — has grown stronger than ever.
The 2026 season, with the introduction of new technical regulations, brings many uncertainties. The opening races will be crucial not only to see how the balance of power shifts among the teams but also for drivers as they begin to define their futures.
Ollie Bearman’s future
During the latest episode of the podcast Terruzzi Racconta, journalist Pino Allievi shared his thoughts on the driver market, which could soon involve both Oliver Bearman and Ferrari: “Bearman has been scoring points consistently in recent races. Sixth in the Netherlands, then ninth in Singapore, ninth in the United States, and fourth in Mexico. He is clearly on the rise — a very strong driver who takes big risks, which sometimes leads him to overdo it or attempt bold overtakes. I would let him develop further before promoting him to Ferrari.” Allievi therefore urged patience, suggesting the young British driver should be given more time to gain experience before making the jump to Maranello’s main team.
For Stefano Nicoli, however, Oliver Bearman’s move to Ferrari seems only a matter of time: “I don’t think it’s a topic of immediate concern right now, because Hamilton had everything go wrong this weekend — but it wasn’t because he was slow. I would wait to see him with the new generation of cars, considering that this current ground-effect era is one that Lewis Hamilton hasn’t really adapted to.”
