The Pirelli tyre test in Abu Dhabi is used by Ferrari to verify the first components of the new Formula 1 car. In Maranello the one-to-one scale bodywork is already in production and the prototype should be on its wheels in the next few weeks. The lower aero and its ability to direct the flows in defence of the floor, represents the main factor that will affect the new sides, engine cover and rear aero shapes.
Without noticing, Formula 1 has already switched to 2023 with designs increasingly directed to the ground effect logics. It could be a painful transition for Ferrari, boasting a formidable traction on its F1-75 thanks to the pull rod rear suspension. As Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto said the focus has been on the 2023 car for almost two months, respecting every deadline, production and testing.
