The 2020 Formula One season will set the direction that Scuderia Ferrari will take for the future, according to Felipe Massa. The Brazilian himself was part of the Maranello team from 2006 to 2013, and therefore knows the team well. Sebastian Vettel came under a lot of pressure from his teammate Charles Leclerc in 2019 and will be hoping for a more successful 2020. His future in the sport is under question and former driver Felipe Massa believes that Scuderia Ferrari will wait until the end of the season before giving him a new contract.
“Ferrari will analyze Sebastian Vettel closely this year,” Felipe Massa said to Motorsport-Total.com. “Based on that analysis, they will decide whether they want to keep it for the coming year or not. We will have to wait until the season starts to have an idea of what the future looks like.” – he explained.

During the winter break, Scuderia Ferrari made a clear step by extending Charles Leclerc’s contract with the Italian side, as the Monegasque driver won two races in his first year and now has a deal which is available until 2024. For Felipe Massa, Charles will play a key role after 2021: “He now has a long-term contract and has proven that he is the future of the team,” he said.
Felipe Massa spent a lot of time in his career building Ferrari but ultimately became the second driver at the team to Fernando Alonso.
