Throughout the opening half of the 2025 Formula 1 season, Ferrari has consistently been the benchmark when it comes to rapid pit stop execution, regularly topping the charts for efficiency and precision in the pit lane.
That stronghold remained unchallenged until the final round before the summer break at the Hungarian Grand Prix. Up until the trip to the Hungaroring, Ferrari had held the top four positions on the season’s pit stop leaderboard. However, that streak came to an end when McLaren managed to rewrite the record books with an extraordinary display of speed during their tire changes.
At the Hungarian race, McLaren mechanics produced not just one but two lightning-fast pit stops, both clocking in at 1.94 seconds. One was carried out for Lando Norris, the other for his teammate Oscar Piastri. The difference between them came down to an almost immeasurable fraction of a second, with Norris’s stop being ever so slightly quicker, placing him at the very top of the pit stop rankings for 2025 so far, with Piastri following closely in second place.
Adding further frustration for Ferrari, Red Bull Racing also made its mark in Hungary. The Milton Keynes-based team performed a 1.97-second stop for Yuki Tsunoda, which secured the third-fastest time of the year and denied Ferrari a position in the top three.
Even so, Ferrari’s overall consistency is striking. The Maranello squad currently occupies positions four through eight on the leaderboard. Despite this, one crucial detail stands out — Ferrari has yet to break the two-second barrier this season, something both McLaren and Red Bull have already achieved.
Red Bull appears once again in ninth place thanks to another slick effort for Yuki Tsunoda, this time at Silverstone, where the team executed a 2.06-second stop. Rounding out the top ten, Ferrari takes the final spot, underlining its presence with six entries among the ten quickest stops of the year.
This means that while Ferrari has managed to dominate the leaderboard numerically with an impressive six out of ten fastest pit stops in 2025, none of its stops feature among the top three. This underlines both the strengths and the current limitations of the team’s pit crew performance.
Nevertheless, Ferrari remains in a strong position to capture the DHL Fastest Pit Stop Award, the accolade that rewards the most consistently quick and efficient teams by awarding points across the season. With ten races still to be contested, the fight for pit lane supremacy is far from over, and there remains plenty of time for Ferrari, McLaren, Red Bull, or even other teams to alter the balance of power in the standings.
Here is the current list of the ten fastest pit stops of the 2025 Formula 1 season so far — a leaderboard that perfectly illustrates just how vital every fraction of a second can be in modern Formula 1.
