Ferrari is getting ready for the second Sprint Weekend of the F1 season in Miami: Frédéric Vasseur previews the work done on the SF-25. It’s a special occasion for the Prancing Horse, celebrating one year of partnership with HP. The drivers will wear special outfits, already revealed, while the car will feature a special livery, set to be unveiled later today.
After the podium secured by Charles Leclerc in Jeddah, the Maranello team wants to ride the wave of the recent improvement in the car’s performance. Following a far from positive start to the season—eighth and tenth place in Melbourne, double disqualification in Shanghai (where Lewis Hamilton still won the Sprint Race)—they seem to have found the right development direction.
The first updates brought to the track between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia have allowed the SF-25 to challenge Mercedes and close in on Max Verstappen and the two McLaren cars. It’s too early to speak of a “title comeback,” but work is progressing rapidly at the factory. The next update packages will arrive in Europe, with key races in Imola, Monaco, and Barcelona, but Ferrari heads to the U.S. to stay competitive.
Fred Vasseur: “Ferrari well prepared for the Miami Sprint”
“After a few days spent in Maranello, which were useful for analyzing the data gathered during the first triple-header of the season, we’re ready to hit the track in Miami—a race that’s special in many ways, where we’ll have the chance to celebrate one year of collaboration with our title partner HP,” explained Team Principal Frédéric Vasseur, who previewed the special livery set to be unveiled in the coming hours.
“In Florida we face the second Sprint Weekend of the season, for which we have prepared thoroughly at the factory, given that we will only have one hour of free practice before going straight into qualifying for Saturday’s Sprint Race, making the simulator work and preparatory briefings even more crucial.” – the French manager pointed out – “We want to keep making progress in terms of performance, building on the encouraging showings by the SF-25 in the Bahrain and Jeddah races.” This year, Ferrari claimed its first win on a Saturday: Lewis Hamilton dominated the Sprint Race in Shanghai, showing the car’s full potential, which still remains partly “locked.” – the Ferrari team boss concluded ahead of the Miami Grand Prix weekend.
The action begins Friday at 6:30 PM (Central European Summer Time) with the first and only Free Practice session.
